👨🏻‍🏫 Principal for a Day 👨🏻‍🏫 - the highly sought after prize in our annual Gala Fundraiser event this year. Mr Sam C, of Year 1 was the lucky student who enjoyed the role of Principal for the day and what a magnificent leader he turned out to be! Mr C spent the day visiting classrooms, handing out awards and helping in the office with a number of duties. Here is a summary of his day in his own words:

"Today I was Principal for the day, and I gave out stickers. And I got to have a photo with the people who got stickers. And me and Ms O’Brien went to the local cafe 'Charlotte’s' with my friend, William. After that we set up the church. And helped Mr Mooney and Miss Bullman. (And Miss Bullman got a new locker). I gave out awards on assembly. I chose Year 1W to leave assembly first."

On Friday 15th November we will hold our 'Term 4 Walk to School Day' to promote:

🚶🏻‍♀️Health and mental wellbeing benefits of walking
🚶‍♂️Reinforcement of safe pedestrian behaviour.
🚶‍♂️Reduction in air pollution created by motor vehicles.
🚶‍♂️Reduction in traffic congestion.

We encourage all families at St Cecilia’s to take part. We will need parents to volunteer to help accompany children walking to school (please note the walk is just for before school). We have several key meeting points around our neighbourhood where everyone involved can gather and walk from there. Talk to your class parents about getting involved.

REMEMBRANCE DAY, also known as Poppy Day, is observed on November 11th each year to honour the members of the armed forces who have died in the line of duty.

Thank you to our Year 6 students who lead our school in a moving service to commemorate Remembrance Day. It's wonderful to see our students taking an active role in such an important event. Their participation helps keep the memory of those who served alive and honours their sacrifices.

Year 1 Students went on an history excursion last

Year 1 Students went on an history excursion last week to The Big Dig Archaeological Education Centre in the Rocks, Sydney. The students participated in The Little Diggers program to compliment the unit of study 'What was life like for children living in The Rocks during the 1800s?'

The students worked as archaeologists to excavate artefacts from the indoor archaeological dig and analysed them to find out about the everyday lives of children who lived at the site of the Cumberland Street archaeology dig.

Students enjoyed exploring how archaeologists find out about the past?
What the people's houses were like? What games they enjoyed playing? and much more!
